In a continuing effort to give back to the communities that it serves, Unitex has forged a relationship with the non-profit agency Sing for Hope, an organization dedicated to using the arts to enhance healthcare and build stronger communities.

In response to the isolation caused by the pandemic, Sing for Hope developed Open Arts—an innovative interactive virtual arts programming platform designed to engage, support, and offset loneliness among senior residents in healthcare settings, long-term care communities, and those living independently. This new initiative is a logical extension of live performances brought to facilities, syncing perfectly with the Summer Concert Series Unitex sponsored before COVID caused the shutdown. Unitex enthusiastically signed on as a founding sponsor of Open Arts’s programming, which begins July 15, 2021.

It’s not all song and dance either! The online programming consists of arts & crafts workshops; body movement exercise classes; and more! By logging on to www.singforhope.org you’ll find more information and recognition of Unitex’s commitment to this endeavor.

“Open Arts is a lifeline for so many, allowing us to connect audiences with arts programming, while providing employment for artists during this year when our stages have been dark,” stated Camille Zamora, Sing for Hope Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director. “It serves to spread the power of community, mental stimulation, and emotional release that only the arts can provide. We are grateful to Unitex for agreeing to sponsor this important initiative.”

“We are excited to introduce this innovative new platform to the 300+ facilities we serve throughout the Northeast,” added David Potack, President of Unitex. “We care deeply about the residents that live in these facilities and the particularly trying time they had during the health crisis. We are proud to be partnering with Sing for Hope to help bring the arts to these underserved and isolated residents.”

These digital performances and workshops will also be available to Unitex employees and their families. If you’ve got a loved one who is alone, infirmed, or would simply love a lift in their day please take advantage of this terrific offering! By logging on to the site you’ll find a calendar of upcoming events. In-person events are also being planned for those facilities we serve!
